Awesome Color: Electric Aborigines

Once I was at a party and someone came up to Awesome Color’s drummer Allison Busch and said “Oh man, I saw your show last night. You’re and amazing drummer!” Allison thought about it for a second and said “Yes, I am.” I don’t know how much more I need to say about how right on of a rock machine Awesome Color is, but their second full-length Electric Aborigines has enough fist-pumping, guitar-solo-blazing moments to convince anyone. The obvious Stooges influence is strong here as it was on their debut LP, but their sound has gotten weirder, darker, steeped in skate rock tempos and sharpened from relentless touring and insane live shows. This could all be subjugated to parody, irony or the like, but anyone paying attention knows this is the real deal. Some kids playing rock better than almost anyone around, interested in having fun, doing what they love and being awesome.
